Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared an immediate 24-hour curfew in Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin Osun following fresh communal clashes that have plunged the region into chaos. The decision comes after disturbing reports and viral footage of violent confrontations resurfaced within the past 24 hours.
Announcing the curfew on his official X handle, Governor Adeleke expressed deep sadness over the renewed hostilities, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in the affected areas. He revealed that after extensive consultations with security agencies, the government resolved to enforce a total lockdown to prevent further bloodshed and destruction.
To ensure strict compliance, the governor has deployed a joint security task force, including the Nigerian Army, Police, Immigration, NSCDC, NDLEA, AMOTEKUN, and other relevant agencies. Security operatives will maintain round-the-clock surveillance to uphold law and order, with stern warnings that violators of the curfew will face severe consequences.

Governor Adeleke also extended his condolences to victims who have lost lives and property in the conflict, assuring them that perpetrators will be brought to justice. In a bid to find a lasting resolution, he has summoned an urgent stakeholders’ meeting with traditional rulers, including Olufon of Ifon, HRM Oba Peter Oluwole Akinyooye, Olobu of Ilobu, HRM Oba Ashiru Olatoye Olaniyan, and the Elerin of Erin Osun, Oba Yusuf Omoloye Oyagbodun II. Other key stakeholders will also be in attendance to discuss immediate peace-building strategies.
The governor called on all residents to embrace peace, urging community leaders and youths to resist provocation and avoid actions that could escalate the situation. He warned that any individual or group inciting violence would face the full wrath of the law.
This emergency curfew remains in effect until further notice, as Osun State authorities work to restore normalcy and prevent further devastation.
