The state executive committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has dismissed a petition filed by the state Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, against the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, describing it as reckless, baseless, and a deliberate attempt to undermine the party’s leadership.
In a statement signed by majority members of the committee, the party expressed strong disapproval of Sobotie’s actions and called for his immediate suspension from office.
Sobotie in his petition, dated March 17, 2025, accused Morka of gross abuse of office and called for his removal.
However, the state executive committee dismissed the allegations in his petition as lacking merit.
The executive committee stated that Sobotie acted unilaterally, without consulting or obtaining approval from the committee before submitting the petition.
It criticized him for failing to understand the limits of his authority as state chairman, and for disregarding the constitutional processes of the party.
Also, the committeesupported the position of Morka that the AapC National Working Committee (NWC) did not approve the creation and inauguration of a Delta State APC leadership council.

On Sobotie’s claim of Morka declaring Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as the leader of the APC in a television interview, it revealed that it found no evidence to support this claim, dismissing it as unfounded.
The SEC questioned Sobotie’s hostility towards Senator Omo-Agege, who led the party to significant electoral successes in the 2023 general elections.
“We had initially intended to wait until the next congress to address Sobotie’s leadership failures, but his continued stay in office is causing irreparable damage to the party,” the SEC stated.
The SEC called on the APC National Working Committee (NWC) to suspend Sobotie immediatelyz to prevent further harm to the party’s structure and credibility in Delta State.
The statement emphasized the need for swift disciplinary action to restore order and unity within the party.
