The Nigerian Women Crusade for Good Governance, comprising 100 women groups, has apologised to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and the Senate following the sexual harassment allegations made by Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
During a press briefing on March 11, 2025, spokesperson for the group, Dr. Cecilia Ikechukwu, denounced Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan’s behaviour as “disruptive, crude, and distasteful,” highlighting that her actions had embarrassed Nigerian women, and undermined the credibility of female politicians dedicated to earning public trust.
The group accused Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan of a history of blackmailing influential figures, and using false allegations to gain political relevance.
They praised Akpabio for supporting women’s inclusion in governance and reasserted their commitment to advancing female leadership.

Emphasizing that her behaviour reinforced negative stereotypes about women in leadership positions, the group insisted that it should not overshadow the progress of Nigerian women in politics.
The group urged that women in governance should aim to inspire, rather than embarrass and called on citizens to focus on the accomplishments of female leaders who have served honourably.
They stressed the importance of character, maturity, and responsible leadership in fostering a nation grounded in integrity and respect.
