The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has hosted high-level meetings with delegations from France, and the United Kingdom, on combating cybercrimes and terrorism.
The visit by the France and UK delegations, underscore Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships, and enhancing the capacity of the oolice to address evolving security challenges.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officier, Olumuyiwa Adejumobi
The statement said Egbetokun hosted the French delegation, which included the French Director of Defence and Security Cooperation, Lt. Gen. Régis Colcombet, Col. Olivier Ductet, Lt. Col. Pierre Yves Dupé, and Commandant Philippe Crespo, along with officials from the French Embassy.
Adejumobi said discussions during the meeting centred on fostering collaboration, facilitating training opportunities, and exchanging ideas across various areas of policing, with key areas of focus including cybercrime investigation, anti-terrorism, knowledge sharing, training, equipment and technology.

In a separate engagement, Egbetokun represented by the AIG Taiwo Adeleke, and other senior police officers, received the United Kingdom-Nigeria Cyber Security Delegation, comprising of the Country Director of the Department of Business and Training at the British High Commission, Mr. Mark Smith; CEO of Espranaro Limited, Dan Edmund, and the Deputy Director at the British High Commission, Morayo Adekunle.
Key outcomes of the visit included an enhanced understanding of the evolving cyber threat landscape, strengthened relationship between the UK and Nigerian cybersecurity communities, increased awareness of the importance of cybersecurity best practices, and a commitment to continue collaboration in addressing cyber threats.
The statement said the successful visits of the French and UK delegations, demonstrate the commitment of the police, to leveraging international partnerships, and embracing innovative strategies to improve security, and protect the Nigerians.
It added that the police remain committed towards working collaboratively to build a safer, and more secure future for all Nigerians.
