Newcastle United are looking to sign Super Eagles and Bayer 04 Leverkusen striker, Victor Boniface.

According to Soccernet.ng the Magpies currently have the options of Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak in attack, but with interest in the Swedish striker at an all-time high, Newcastle are looking at Boniface as a potential replacement.

Boniface was linked with a move to Al-Nassr during the January transfer window, but the Saudi-based side opted to sign Jhon Duran from Aston Villa.

According to German outlet, BILD, Victor Boniface is the subject of interest from Newcastle United.

The Magpies are scouring the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Callum Wilson and Isak’s future.

So, the Bayer Leverkusen attacker has emerged as a target for the Tyneside outfit.

Eddie Howe’s side have already made contact with Boniface’s advisors, as the next Saudi Sheikh wants the Super Eagles forward, although they previously wanted Osimhen.

Newcastle are owned by a Saudi Public Investment Fund, headed by ruler and crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman for over three years, meaning they have the financial means to tempt Die Werkself with a good offer and Boniface with a huge wage incentive.

Leverkusen have sold stars like Kai Havertz, Moussa Diaby, and Leon Bailey in recent years, and this could be another opportunity for the Bundesliga Champions to cash in.

Xabi Alonso’s side plan a major sale per season and were ready to make money from Boniface in the winter and would not be averse to a suitable offer in the summer.

Boniface has scored 31 goals and provided 11 assists in 52 games for Bayer 04 Leverkusen across all competitions since joining from Union Saint-Gilloise in 2023. He’s also won the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal, and DFL Super Cup titles.

At the Bay Arena, the Nigerian isn’t forced into an exit, and they’re very comfortable having him in the squad, as he’s considered an important player by the club coach.

Additionally, Boniface recently penned a new deal with Leverkusen that’ll see him stay at the Bay Arena till 2029.

He’s also repeatedly mentioned he doesn’t see himself playing in the English Premier League, as he prefers the Spanish La Liga.

Leverkusen are currently second on the Bundesliga table, eight points behind league leaders, Bayern Munich, and five points above third-place Eintracht Frankfurt.
