The gale of defections rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State continues unabated as the 2027 general elections draw closer.
The latest to defect is Dr. Chris Okobah, a foundation member of the party from Onicha-Ugbo in Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state.
He along with over 1, 000 of his supporters, made the decision to leave the PDP.
Dr. Okobah explained that his decision to quit the PDP was not taken lightly, given his long-standing commitment and significant contributions to the party’s success since its inception.
In a resignation letter addressed to the Chairman of Ward 2, Onicha-Ugbo, Mr. Chukwuka Nwokolo, Dr. Okobah cited “unfathomable disaffection and internal squabbles” within the party as the primary reasons for his departure.
He further stated that the current state of affairs within the PDP no longer aligns with my political principles, nor does it provide a conducive platform for leadership and development.
