The Kano State House of Assembly has urged the state government to direct the Ministry of Land and Physical Planning to take action against owners of uncompleted buildings in the state.
In a motion of public importance, the member representing Kiru Constituency, Usman Tasiu, said some uncompleted buildings in the state have been left for over five and more years, without any sign of completing such buildings.
These buildings, he said serve as hideouts for criminals who commit all sorts of social vices, amidst the rising security concerns in the state.
During Tuesday’s plenary presided over by the Speaker, Ismail Falgore, the mover of the motion, further stressed the need for the state government to take the matter seriously and mandate property owners to develop them within a specific time, sell them or risk the approval for such buildings being revoked.

He added that some of such structures are been occupied by people who cannot cater for themselves, who also give birth to children that they cannot take care of, hence the need to put an end to such practice to enhance security and promote morality.
Seconding the motion, the member representing Madobi Constituency, Suleiman Mukhtar, noted that most of the uncompleted structures give room for drug peddlers and child abusers to hide to commit their nefarious activities.
After careful deliberation, the speaker set up a seven-member committee to be chaired by the Majority Leader, Lawan Husseini, to do a comprehensive report on the matter and report back to the House in three weeks time.
