The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command says it has launched a thorough investigation and rescue operation to secure the safe return of the abducted victims from Chikakore community in Abuja.
Chikakore community in the Kubwa area of Abuja, was besieged when 20 heavily armed bandits stormed the community, abducting five residents, including an entire family.
The incident occurred on Sunday at about11 pm, with the bandits forcing their way into homes and targeting specific residents.
Among those kidnapped were Adesiyan Akinropo, his wife, their son, and a visitor staying with the family. A neighbour was also taken, bringing the total number of victims to five.
However, in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the police said a thorough investigation and a search-and-rescue operation to secure the safe return of the abducted victims has been launched.
The police said operatives were swiftly deployed upon receiving a distress call on January 27, 2025, at about 1:00 am, regarding the attack and abduction of some residents in Chikakore community.
SP Adeh said preliminary investigations revealed that seven unknown men, disguised as vigilante members and armed with machetes and sticks, attacked the residence of the abducted victim.

She added that the suspects deceived the victim into opening his gate, after which they abducted him and three members of his family.
Also, the police spokesperson said a neighbour who attempted to intervene was injured during the attack and was rushed to the Kubwa General Hospital for medical attention.
The police appealed to residents of Chikakore community and the general public to remain calm and vigilant, while requesting for any useful information that can assist in its investigation and rescue efforts.
