The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju has urged serving policemen to support their retired colleagues, saying the same gesture will be extended to them when they leave service.
The police chief gave the counsel in Port Harcourt, during a ceremony to mark the retirement of two senior officers of the command who were proceeding on retirement.
The retiring officers were DSP Edith Nsude and DSP Epiekiri Firstman.
Adepoju noted that retiring peacefully is one of the best things that can happen to any police officer, adding that “you started well and ended well. Retirement is the beginning of good things in your life. I rejoice with you and wish you the best. Once a police ifficer is always a police officer.”
Also speaking, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Barasua Ireju, described the two retiring officers as unique personalities and prayed God to guide and enlarge their coast.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, described the two retiring officers as dedicated, and high achievers, acknowledging that their contributions to the police will not go unnoticed.
“Their retirement marks a new chapter, their selfless contributions to the Nigeria Police Force will be remembered by all.

“Throughout their careers, they have demonstrated exceptional leadership, professional conduct and a deep sense of duty. Their experiences, knowledge and expertise will be deeply missed.
One of the retiring officers, DSP Epiekiri Firstman, thanked the Almighty God for seeing him through his 35 years journey as a police officer.
He expressed his debt of gratitude to everyone who had supported him throughout his career and thanked the inspector general of police, the Police Service Commission, the Rivers State ccommissioner of police and his management team for giving him the opportunity to serve.
He specifically thanked his immediate boss, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, for every opportunity he had to serve through her guidance and mentorship, describing her as a role model.
