Tragedy struck in Babawa village, Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State, as the state Fire Service recovered the body of an unidentified man from a well on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
Saminu Yusif, spokesperson for the Fire Service, confirmed the incident in a statement released to the media on Wednesday. According to Yusif, the service’s control room received an emergency call at approximately 12:59 p.m. from ASP Kabiru Lawan of the Gezawa Police Division, reporting the discovery of a body in the well.
The fire rescue team arrived at the scene by 1:25 p.m. and retrieved the victim, a man believed to be around 45 years old. Sadly, he was found unconscious and later confirmed dead.
Community members and local leaders expressed shock as they were unable to identify the deceased or provide any information about him. The incident has left residents of the area puzzled, raising questions about the victim’s identity and circumstances leading to his death.
