Uruguayan footballer, Robert Carmona, 62, is the world’s oldest professional football player in history.
According to a report by Marca, the 62-year-old is officially recognized by the Guinness World Records.
Carmona began his remarkable career in 1976, and over the years, he has played for 49 teams, featuring in over 2, 000 matches.
Despite his advanced age, Carmona’s passion for football remains undiminished.
He continues to play without a formal contract, relying instead on verbal agreements with clubs.
Although his basic salary does not provide financial security, he supplements his income through sports-related ventures and event appearances.

“I lack nothing in my life,” Carmona said with satisfaction.
In an interview, Carmona reflected on the discipline and dedication that have sustained him throughout his extraordinary journey.
“Since I was a child, I knew I had the skills and that I could become a great footballer,” he said.
“I’ve always said that one of the most important things for success in football is training, and that’s why I’ve been playing for 49 years.”
“I’ve done it every day without excuses. I train for two to three hours daily, six days a week.”
Carmona draws parallels between his work ethic and that of global football icons.
“Cristiano Ronaldo and I are similar in terms of professionalism,” he noted.
The 62-year-old is now actively seeking a contract with the 50th club of his career after departing Nuevo Casabo in Uruguay’s fourth division.
