Two rival groups that have been engaged in reprisal attacks in Agbarho community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State have signed a peace pact to renounce violence.
The peace accord was signed by leaders of the Eiye and Maphite confraternities after community leaders brokered a deal between both cult groups to stop the senseless killings and destruction of properties.
In the peace agreement signed by the two cult groups and addressed to the oresident general of Agbarho kingdom, the leaders of both cult groups agreed to a truce with an undertaking that they be held accountable for any further outbreak of violence.

“From now henceforth, we promise to end any further chaos or violence and if found out that our members are guilty of any violent act, legal action should be taken against such a member.
“We hereby sign this undertaking that the security agencies and the community should hold any of our members responsible for any violent action,” the undertaking read.
A source from the community in confirming the development said, that “Eiye and Maphite in Agbarho have signed a peace agreement with representatives from both sides and a witness present. While this is a positive step, we urge everyone to stay vigilant until lasting peace is achieved.”
