The Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP) has announced the registration of 58, 000 new enrollees under its basic health care provision fund.
The agency’s acting Executive Secretary, Vetty Agala, who disclosed this during a visit to the Deputy Governor of the state, Ngozi Odu at the Government House, Port Harcourt, said the health scheme has continued to yield positive results, saving the lives of many contributors with critical health challenges.
Agala commended Governor Siminialayi Fubara for creating an enabling environment and support base for the agency to function maximally in the state.
However, she solicited further support from the state government, through the enforcement of the legislation establishing the agency to bring on board the formal and informal sectors to engender wider universal health coverage across the state.

The acting executive secretary informed the deputy governor that the maiden universal health coverage day will hold on December 12, at the Orogbum Health Centre after a health walk in Port Harcourt, the state capital and across other parts of the state.
Responding, the Deputy Governor, Ngozi Odu, told the acting scribe of the health agency that Gov. Fubara, is only interested and moved by projects and programmes that will impact humanity.
Odu, who commended the Commissioner for Health, Adaeze Oreh for her strength and strategic leadership vision that has helped to put the state on the global health map, commended Agala and her team for the good work they are doing to ensure that the people of Rivers State benefit from the agency’s programmes.
