The Nigerian Army has unveiled a newly renovated Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) and staff quarters in Olugbo, Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The Acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, represented by Maj.-Gen. Baba Yahaya of the Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, highlighted the Army’s dedication to contributing to societal development.
“This initiative is part of our commitment to giving back to the communities that have supported us,” Oluyede stated. He emphasized that the Army’s projects aim to complement government efforts, not compete with them, by enhancing the quality of life for citizens.
The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Oludaisi Elemide, praised the Army’s intervention, describing it as a vital example of giving back to communities.
Similarly, the Chairman of Odeda Local Government, Folashade Adeyemo, lauded the project as a significant step toward accessible healthcare for all. “Access to adequate healthcare is a right, not a privilege. This facility is a testament to collaborative efforts between government and other stakeholders,” Adeyemo noted.

She further urged individuals and organizations to support the state government’s efforts, stressing that “the government alone cannot provide all necessary facilities.”
The newly upgraded healthcare centre and staff quarters will improve healthcare delivery in Odeda and its surrounding areas. With enhanced infrastructure, residents can now access affordable and quality medical services closer to home.
The renovation of the healthcare centre highlights the importance of public-private partnerships in addressing societal needs. The Nigerian Army’s effort demonstrates how collaborative initiatives can complement government responsibilities and improve the lives of citizens.
