The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has issued a passionate call for unity among Yoruba sons and daughters, traditional rulers, and practitioners of traditional beliefs to drive progress, peace, and development in the region.
This appeal was made during a visit to his Lagos residence by the Executive Members of the International Council for Ifa Religion (ICIR), led by its President, Dr. Fayemi Fatunde Fakayode.
In a press release signed by Dr. Fakayode, the visit aimed to strengthen cooperation among Yoruba leaders and enhance peace and development across Yorubaland and Nigeria. He commended Iba Gani Adams for his unwavering commitment to fostering harmony and security in the region.
“Our visit is centered on advocating for collaboration among Yoruba leaders, particularly traditional rulers, to promote peace and development for our people,” said Dr. Fakayode.
“We applaud your dedication to the Yoruba nation and your role as a pivotal figure in shaping its future. We are confident that your leadership will continue to inspire progress and unity,” he added.

In his response, Iba Gani Adams expressed his respect for the ICIR, lauding its integrity and dedication to preserving Yoruba culture and values. He urged traditional worshippers and leaders to unite under a common vision for progress.
“I call on all Yoruba people, both at home and abroad, to come together in pursuit of peace, harmony, and security for our homeland. I also appeal to the Obas of Yorubaland to prioritize unity and collaboration for the advancement of our communities,” he said.
He further highlighted the economic benefits of promoting Yoruba cultural heritage, encouraging traditional rulers and adherents of Isese to take the lead in showcasing the richness of Yoruba traditions to the world.
Gani emphasized that cultural preservation is not only vital for identity but also a significant driver of economic growth. He called on stakeholders to harness the potential of Yoruba heritage to boost local and national economies.
