The administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State says it is addressing hunger and poverty through extensive human capital development initiatives.
Responding to criticism over the state government’s recent donation of operational vehicles to security agencies, Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, Sir Festus Ahon, in a press statement issued in Asaba, on November 22, 2024, said that the donation of operational vehicles aligns with the administration’s broader commitment to ensuring security across the state.
“Governor Oborevwori has empowered over 200,000 Deltans through various human capital development programmes and created thousands of jobs in teaching and other civil service roles,” the statement stated.

The state government further defended the donation, noting that security investment remains a critical priority even in developed nations, underscoring the administration’s proactive measures to curb insecurity.
In a related development, the statement revealed that the state government empowered 311 Deltans, to become self-reliant entrepreneurs and employers of labour, marking another step in the state’s fight against poverty.
