President-elect Donald Trump announced on Sunday that Tom Homan, former acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), will lead national border security as the newly appointed “Border Czar.”
According to Trump’s statement on his Truth Social platform, Homan’s role will encompass overseeing security at the U.S. Southern and Northern borders, as well as maritime and aviation entry points, making him a key figure in Trump’s hardline immigration agenda. Homan, a staunch advocate of border enforcement, served under Trump’s first administration and has been widely praised by Trump for his commitment to curbing illegal immigration.

Homan, who has been a vocal supporter of Trump’s policies, may also be considered for the position of Secretary of Homeland Security. His role as Border Czar will reportedly include directing deportation operations and managing immigration enforcement—a cornerstone of Trump’s renewed push for stringent border policies.
Trump, who has pledged to tackle illegal immigration as a priority, is expected to finalize key appointments in the coming weeks before his January 20 inauguration. Homan’s appointment signals a strong commitment to enhancing U.S. border security and enforcing immigration laws.
