Lille, coming off impressive wins against Real Madrid and Atletico, showed resilience under pressure. Goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier delivered a standout performance, making several key saves to deny Juventus a late winner. Lille’s defensive strategy paid off, as they conceded possession but defended aggressively, countering with precision.
The game took an early twist when Juventus thought they had scored in the 24th minute, but Teun Koopmeiners’ goal was disallowed due to an offside in the buildup. Lille capitalized on their first big opportunity shortly after, as David finished Edon Zhegrova’s pinpoint pass on a counter-attack.

Despite Juventus intensifying their attacks in the second half, Chevalier was a wall, notably stopping Vlahovic’s close-range half-volley. But the Lille keeper was finally beaten when Vlahovic converted a penalty after Francisco Conceicao was fouled.
Juve coach Thiago Motta praised Lille’s disciplined setup but expressed disappointment with the draw, saying, “We deserved more than a draw.” David, who described the match as “tough,” acknowledged the draw as a fair outcome, while Chevalier added, “Let’s not lie; we didn’t deserve to win, so it’s a good result.”
Lille now faces Bologna and Sturm Graz in their remaining group matches, while Juventus prepares to visit Aston Villa before hosting Manchester City in a challenging finish to the group stage.
