In a swift response to the recent collapse of the Uzere-Asaba-Ase Bridge in Isoko South, the Local Government Chairman, Comrade Warri Ovoke, made an emergency visit to assess the damage. The collapse, which occurred on Friday, September 27, 2024, following heavy rains, has disrupted the major route connecting communities in the area.
During the inspection, Comrade Ovoke expressed relief that there were no casualties from the incident. “We deeply regret the unfortunate situation, but we are thankful that no lives were lost. This matter will be escalated to the state governor for immediate attention,” he assured.

The Uzere-Asaba-Ase Bridge is a critical link for residents and traders, especially those traveling to the popular Asaba Ase Market. The collapse has caused significant disruptions, prompting the council chairman to advise residents and motorists to use alternative routes until repairs are completed. “We recommend that all residents and market women traveling to Asaba Ase find alternate routes to avoid delays,” Ovoke added.
Comrade Ovoke emphasized that the state government, under the leadership of the governor, remains committed to addressing infrastructure challenges promptly. “We are fortunate to have a governor who is attentive and dedicated to the needs of Deltans,” he stated.
The collapse has heightened concerns among locals, particularly traders who rely on the bridge to transport goods. The swift intervention of the state government is now crucial to restoring normalcy and ensuring safe transit for all affected.
