An elderly woman, Mrs. Polo Otagba, aged 83, had been macheted to death by an unidentified mentally deranged man in the agrarian community of Olomoro, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident which occurred Monday, threw the community into pandemonium as protesting women thronged the streets over the gruesome murder of the octogenarian.
The deceased was said to be sleeping in her house at Ukoli quarter in the community when she met with her untimely death.

Sources said the woman was found in pool of her own blood in the early hours of Monday with some parts of her body missing. But the Police Public Relations Officer of the State command, Mr. Bright Edafe who refuted the claim, said that a woman was killed but none of her body part was missing.”
Edafe who stated that investigations showed that the suspect who killed the woman is mentally derange, disclosed that her corpse had been deposited in the mortuary.
Earlier, the President General, Olomoro community, Mr. Samuel Commander who confirmed the incident, disclosed that the suspect had been apprehended.
While appealing to the deceased family to allow peace to reign, the community leader, stated that a meeting would be held to chat the best possible way forward to handle the situation.
He also confirmed on a telephone chat that normalcy has since returned to the community.
