The traditional ruler of Chanchanji, in Takum local government council of Taraba state has been gruesomely murdered by yet to be identified gunmen.
The Gara Chanchanj, Alhaji Tanimu Kunbiya, was murdered alongside his son, Yusuf Kunbiya, on Friday evening in the local government council.
The tragic incident, as gathered by The our reporter, occurred along Takum- Chanchanji road, while he was returning back to his area of domicile from a burial ceremony.
At the time of filing this report, palpable tensions, as revealed by The Guardian findings, have enveloped the community and Takum, the administrative headquarters of the council.
The killing comes barely two months after the village head of Usmanu village in Karim-Lamido local government council, Alhaji Auwal Abubakar and his younger brother were brutally murdered by yet to be arrested suspected gunmen.
Confirming the incident, the state police Command, through its spokesperson, Gambo Kwache, said the monarch and his son were killed in an ambush.
“We got a report that the third class chief of Chanchanji was ambushed in Jakudi village and he and his son were killed by the yet to be identified gunmen.” She stated.

To douse the tensions that have enveloped the village and the local government council at large, anti riots policemen and other security agencies , as made known by her, have been deployed to the areas.
Piqued by the development, the leadership of the Tiv Cultural and Social Association, called on the government and security agencies to diligently investigate this murder and bring the perpetrators to justice.
In a statement signed and issued to journalists in Jalingo on Saturday by its President General, Chief James Baka, they appealed to the state governor Dr. Agbu Kefas, to as a matter of urgency deploy security forces to calm the rising tensions in the area.
Rather than going about attacking innocent people, they urged everyone to remain calm and allow the security agencies to carry out their responsibilities effectively.
