Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has issued a stern warning to anyone found aiding bandits in the state, declaring that he will sign the death warrant for any informant convicted of providing information to these criminals.

During a visit to Tudun Bichi in the Wasagu Chiefdom of Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area, the governor expressed his anger at the rising attacks by bandits, attributing much of the violence to informants.

He vowed to take drastic action against those who collaborate with bandits, emphasizing that such behavior defies moral and religious norms.

“The activities of informants defy all norms and religious doctrines,” Governor Idris said. “Just for a pittance, some miscreants will provide valuable information to bandits to perpetrate mayhem against their own people. I will never condone or be lenient with such unscrupulous persons. Let it be known to the informants that whoever is convicted for volunteering information to bandits leading to the killing of innocent souls, I will sign his death warrant instantaneously.”

The governor assured the community that his administration would continue to support security agencies, providing them with the resources they need to combat banditry effectively.

He also promised to rehabilitate the three-kilometre road linking Tudun Bichi with Wasagu, which has become impassable due to a collapsed bridge.

During the visit, the village head of Tudun Bichi, Muhammad Mika’ilu, thanked Governor Idris for his empathy and urged him to increase security in the area.

He revealed that bandit attacks had prevented villagers from farming for the past two consecutive seasons, as bandits renewed their attacks during the rainy season, killing anyone who dared to work the fields.

An elder from Tudun Bichi, Sani Manomi, further disclosed that the bandits had killed a total of 86 people from the town in various attacks on farmlands. Just last Thursday, the bandits killed seven villagers in cold blood.

Governor Idris’s tough stance against informants and his commitment to restoring security are seen as a beacon of hope for the beleaguered community, which has suffered greatly from the constant threat of bandit attacks.
