The Special Assistant to Akwa Ibom State Governor on Research and Documentation Dr Essien Ndueso has charged participants of second Batch trainees of Ibom Leadership Entrepreneurship Development Centre to translate skills and knowledge acquired during their three months of training into their businesses for the success of A-R-I-S-E agenda of the present administration in Akwa Ibom state.

The governor had assembled 470 business owners across 31 local government areas in the state for three months of intensive training on various rudiments of business as a means to kick-start entrepreneurship development in the state.

According to Ndueso, the participants will receive cash of N500,000 business grants each to boost their businesses to reduce the burden of unemployment and promote entrepreneurship.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the graduation ceremony on Thursday, one of the participants and Chief Executive Officer of Phenom Edotech consulting /Blueprint Africa Bason Umoh said courses in the three months training include: Business Development, Business Etiquette, Legal and Regulatory compliance in business dealings as well as Networking and Collaboration.

Others were Digital Tools, Personal Finance Planning, Sales and Marketing Strategies, Access to business funding, Pitching and presentation skills.

” We would also have access to Bank of Industry loans as governor Umo Eno has given N2b to take off in the state.

” I have learnt more about uninformed business decisions that made me lose money in millions in the past.

” I have learned more about record keeping in business.

Another participant Emmanuel Urua the Managing Director of Shawarma/Chow De Restaurant Mr Emmanuel Urua said facilities and Resource Persons were drawn from Small and Medium Entreprises Development Agency of Nigeria ( SMEDAN) Bank of Industry and successful business owners among others.

” We were taught how to sell business deals and collaborate with others. We got advice from Bank of Industry. They assured us that their loan would be a single-digit rate less than what is obtainable in commercial banks while the tenor period would be 4 years.

Two participants Helen Bassey and Grace Joshua dealing with Confectioneries/ Catering Services and Stitches/Wears appreciated Governor Umo Eno for the business training adding that the knowledge acquired was equivalent to Lagos Business School where people pay millions to attend.

” We are grateful to Governor Umo Eno for the 3 months training which ends today. The knowledge and skills acquired here are equivalent to Lagos Business School. We are grateful. God bless our governor” they said.
