Akwa Ibom State Police Command says it has declared a manhunt on hoodlums who killed and cut off the head of one Inspector of “C” Division in the state.
Our Correspondent gathered that hoodlums numbering about 10 stormed the resident of the victim along Enen Afaha within Uyo metropolis and dealt several blows to him before he was lynched and his head cut off leaving the body in his pool of his blood.
An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said the assailants arrived at the residence of their victim at around 8:30 pm and were shooting sporadically into the air to scare neighbours as they descended heavily on the deceased.
He said the entire neighbourhood was gripped in fear as the facts surrounding such a misty death were unknown to people living in the area.

However, the death of the Police Inspector is the third one within two weeks in Uyo city after a woman was beheaded along Banking Layout while another one was killed at Ekpri Nsukara with genital parts removed and her body discarded on the roadside.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Odiko Macedon has confirmed the killing of the Police Inspector describing it as unfortunate.
“We have received that information and it is an unfortunate situation.
“Already, an investigation is ongoing and we are committed to ridding the streets of criminal elements.
“Again, we are not deterred and we are committed to ensuring that, criminal-minded persons will account for their actions,” he said.
