Daughters of Mbaise Clan married in Ngor Okpala LGA of Imo State have formally declared their unalloyed support and readiness to work for the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), candidates in next year’s senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly elections in Imo East(Owerri) zone of State.

The group made their resolution known on Friday during a special interactive session organized by Restoration Mandate 2023(Agulanna Team) between the women and three PDP flag bearers, Hon. Uche Onyeagucha, Engr. Albert C. Agulanna and Chief Kingsley Odionyemma; at Chief D.I. Agbiriogu’s Memorial Hall, Umueze Ezemba Autonomous Community in Ngor Okpala LGA.

Addressing the women, Hon. Uche Onyeagucha, PDP senatorial candidate for Owerri Zone thanked the women for honouring the invitation with large turnout. He said, “Your presence here shows that our party and candidates have received your endorsement and support and we gladly appreciate you as partners in progress.”

Barr. Onyeagucha who charged the women to make sure they know how to vote in the right place in order to avoid multiple void votes during the coming polls urged them to place their fingerprints in the PDP box or logo on the ballot paper and not beyond the margin.

He allayed the fears in certain quarters about ballot box snatching and violence during the elections saying that the introduction of BVAS electronic transmission of results by the INEC will eliminate such vices in the coming polls.

While further urging them to safeguard their Permanent Voter’s Card, PVC, the renowned human rights activist charged the audience to carry the message home through their respective families, churches, organizations, and businesses.

Onyeagucha promised the women that a victory for the PDP candidates in 2023 would translate to victory for Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, making a positive difference and changing the old narrative of governance and representation in Owerri Zone and the state at large.

Speaking earlier, Engr. Albert Chibuzor Agulanna, PDP House of Representatives candidate for Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala federal constituency, appealed to the women to join hands with their kinsmen and women in Aboh, Ahiazu and Ezinihitte Mbaise LGAs to vote and restore PDP to power in the state.

He applauded them for showing interest in his ambition as well as other PDP candidates and assured them that they will be remembered and rewarded with reasonable empowerment packages when the trio get elected and sworn into office next year.

Agulanna also promised to liaise with the women, as his sisters, to ascertain their individual and collective needs, prior to and after the coming elections while urging them to remain united and focused on their dreams of better representation to be achieved.

Welcoming the Mbaise daughters and the candidates, Chief Kingsley Uzoma Odionyemma, PDP candidate for Ngor Okpala state constituency, thanked the organizers for the vision and assured the women of a new lease of life when he and other candidates get elected.

He enjoined them to ensure that their support permeates all the nooks and crannies of Ngor Okpala and their maiden council areas adding that PDP victory in the coming polls will eliminate the current hardship and bring back smiles on the faces of the people.

In a vote of thanks, Convener of the Married Daughters of Mbaise, MADAM, Ngor Okpala Chapter, Mrs Jovita Oke-Eze appreciated the goodwill of the candidates by deeming it necessary to interface with them and expressed hope that the interaction will mark a new beginning in their relationship with brothers in politics.

She promised, on behalf of the group, that they will work assiduously to ensure victory for the PDP candidates in the over 190 polling units in Ngor Okpala.
