The Kaduna State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commander Idris Yahaya, on Wednesday, placed its personnel in Disaster Management Unit and residents on red alert over impending flood.
Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) had predicted possible floods, especially for residents of areas considered as most vulnerable.
Following this early warning, Yahaya ordered the officers in disaster management to be alert and sensitize residents of the affected areas on how to mitigate or respond to the natural disaster.
According to him, he had placed the officers on alert because of the frequency and high degree of rains in August, which will last till the end of September and even part of October.
