Following the series of injury problems bedevilling Premier League club Liverpool, they have intensified efforts to snap some midfield reinforcements before the summer window draws its curtain on September 1.

This new development contradicts coach Jurgen Klopp’s earlier statement that the club do not wish to sign any player before the summer window ends.

With the number of options in the midfield now limited, including Naby Keita’s recent predicament that has exacerbated the already precarious state, the Reds look to bolster the midfield to complement their season’s campaign.

Liverpool this summer had their interest in Monaco defensive midfielder, Aurelien Tchouameni slip away as Real Madrid snapped the teenager to Santiago Bernabeu for €80m.

Consequent to the insufficient midfielders in the squad, the Reds started the season poorly.

Aside from Keita, other players in the retinue of injuries include Thiago and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, paving the way for Klopp to start James Milner and Harvey Elliott in the first defeat this season to Manchester United.

Moreover, the club hierarchy has given instructions to Liverpool scouts who are doing due diligence in their search for quality reinforcements to bolster the squad.

Reportedly, the club scouts have been able to pencil down names of a few prospective targets that meet the club’s requirements.
