Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is happy with his new role for the Gunners where he has been presented the opportunity to move freely on the pitch by coach Mikel Arteta.

The Switzerland international, in the match against Leicester, netted the third goal in the 4-2 bashing of the Foxes after Gabriel Jesus’ brace.

Xhaka, 29, having anchored the Gunners midfield as a defensive midfielder, solely or in pair with a teammate, finds his new role to go deeper into the opponent’s half to support Arsenal’s attack, amazing.

In an interaction with Arsenal media, Xhaka said that he has gotten more freedom to support the team’s attack.

He added that having been given the privilege to move freely, with the support from his teammates through the consent of the Arsenal manager, he affirmed that everything is going fine.

Xhaka said, “I’ve got more freedom to go up and down.

“I know I can do that. I have a lot of freedom from the coach, and my teammates.

“At the moment I’m happy with how everything is going.

“Let’s continue to work like this and hopefully at the end of the season we can be more than happy,” the midfielder advised.

Further in his speech, Xhaka acknowledged all the players for the great job they did against the Foxes, stressing that it feels good to score.

“It’s always good when you score and it’s always good when you can help the team – not only me, but all the players did a great job today. I’m more than happy to help, of course,” Xhaka admitted.

Meanwhile, Arteta commended the Swiss for his contribution in the match and for doing exactly what he was, tactically, instructed to do.

The Gunners boss, who believes in the attribute of Xhaka, added that the player could have doubled his effort from a header in the first half.

“We want [Granit] to arrive in the box and create those moments,” Arteta said.

“He has done it in his career, and I’m a big believer that he can do it and he now has this moment to do it.

“He should have scored another with that header in the first half, but I’m really pleased with him,” added the Arsenal manager.

Although the Switzerland international is enjoying his new role for the Gunners, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabio Vieira may pose a competitive challenge to him for that position.
