Barcelona sold some part of its shares to free up levels in a bid to register new signings into the Spanish topflight division.
According to La Liga’s financial rules, Barcelona, prior to selling some part of its shares of their future television rights and their media production unit Barca Studios, could have been unable to register Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Franck Jessie and Andreas Christensen.
However, the Catalans have obliterated the obstacle by selling an additional 24.5% of its shares in Barca Studio worth about 100m euros to Orpheus Media to register four of the players mentioned above on Friday.
Likewise, the La Liga rule also applies to players who renewed their contract, as Ousmane Dembele and Sergio Roberto did but luckily, both players have been registered also.
With this development, Lewandowski, Raphinha, Kessie and Christensen are set to make their first La Liga appearance against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday.
Meanwhile, former Sevilla defender Jules Kounde is yet to be registered for La Liga as Barca will have to free up ‘salary mass’.
According to Barcelona boss Xavi, he is optimistic that all players whose registrations are pending will be settled in the nick of time.

“The club is very positive. We’ve just announced the fourth lever and we believe that tomorrow will be arranged. Maybe not 100%, but we’ll see tomorrow,” Xavi said, during a press briefing.
“We still have up to two hours before kick-off. The club is doing a tremendous effort. I’m very happy and excited about the new signings and the team we have built.
“We’re now ready to compete but, in terms of registrations, we have until tomorrow [Saturday] and right now we are optimistic,” the Barca coach added, emphatically.
Last season, Barcelona were defeated at Estadio de Vallecas courtesy of the 30-minute strike by Radamel Falcao for Rayo Vallecano in October.
