National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Ide John C. Udeagbala, has lamented that endemic insecurity and poor infrastructure were worsening Nigeria’s operating environment and killing several businesses.
Udeagbala disclosed this in statement made available to The Trumpet in Lagos at the weekend shortly after the recent opening of Right Choice Electronics showroom on Azikiwe Street, Aba, Abia State.
He commended the promoter of Right Choice Electronics for his resilience that birthed the business outfit, despite the worsening business environment in the country.
His words: “The business environment has not been good because of the obvious reasons of insecurity, which has become endemic and the poor infrastructure. Community buses cannot deliver products and goods and so we are still suffering from poor infrastructure, which are all factors responsible for the worsening business environment.
“We have been talking about what can be done to improve things. You could see now that the government is broke. If you look at the budget and capital expenditure, government is barely having more to pay. So, if we must get to the root of the problem, rather than scratching the issues from the top, it is either we fix our refineries or we will continue the sad stories.”
The NACCIMA boss said the chamber was in support of the removal of fuel subsidy because it was riddled with corruption and the right people were not benefiting from it.
Catholic Bishop of Aba Diocese of Abia, Bishop Augustine Echema, who blessed the outfit, urged youths to be responsible in their places of work and businesses to grow such establishment and create more jobs for others.

He cautioned them against destroying the endeavors of their employers and relatives because of greedy and jealousy, adding that such actions reduce employment opportunities for others and also draw God’s anger.
Stressing that anyone who bites the hand that feeds him would not eat from such hand again, Udeagbala urged the youths to desist from obtaining money by trick, robbery, kidnapping and destruction of businesses and work places under their watch, but be productive, since God blesses genuine efforts.
In his remarks, Managing Director of Right Choice Electronics, Chief Ogochukwu Mgbi, said the company was incorporated in 2007 with focus on importation of electronics and distribution of electrical appliances.
He said from a small shop on 20 Pound Road, Aba, Abia State, the company has expanded businesses to Port Harcourt, Rives State and Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, saying the establishment and opening of the Ava world-class showroom as is obtainable abroad was a dream come true and thanked the company’s supporters and customers, who made the project possible.
Responding, Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, who was represented by the state Commissioner for Transport, Godswill Nwanorue, expressed delight over the establishment of the showroom in Aba and pledged that Azikiwe Road, Aba would be rehabilitated for easy accessible to customers.
