Operatives of the Sokoto State Police Command have recovered no fewer than one hundred and thirty-five (135) livestock earlier declared rustled among others during the week.
The quick recovery of the lost livestock followed a swift response and deployment of tactical operatives by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammed Usain Gumel, who acted professionally upon receiving the information about the missing livestock.
The State Police Command spokesperson, Sanusi Abubakar, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), in a statement made available to The Trumpet, the Command said, “On the 28th of June 2022 at about 8.30 pm information on intrusion into the farm and escape of three hundred and fifteen (315) livestock was received by the Police upon this information the Commissioner of Police deployed tactical teams for fact-finding and on the spot assessment on the incident. There followed the deployment of an investigation team to unravel the circumstances that led to the situation.

“Fortunately on the 29th of June 2022 at about 1 pm information was received from the owner, Alhaji Abdullahi Gabir Adiya that one hundred and thirty-five among the missing livestock have returned back to the farm and this comprises of sixty-five bulls and seventy-eight rams respectively.”
According to him, investigation into the incident has been intensified as there are elements of foul play suspected and that is not cattle rustling as earlier reported by some media platforms.
However, The Commissioner of Police has appealed to Sokoto State residents to remain calm and should not panic as the Police are on top of the situation and seriously strategizing on ways to tackle the matter and overcome similar criminal challenges facing the State.
Upon assumption of office, the CP decided to restructure the Command Crime-fighting tools and adopted results-oriented strategies leveraging skills such as community-based policing, intelligence-led, and technology-driven policing systems.
