Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ebonyi State, Prof. Benard Odoh, on Sunday, lamented the failure of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to allow the Igbo emerge as their presidential candidates. He spoke during the Fathers’ Day celebration at All Saints Anglican Cathedral, Abakaliki, the state capital.

Odoh, who bagged the Anglican outstanding leadership award, said: “We know that Igbos have no place in the two dominant parties in today’s Nigeria again because we have nobody running for President or Vice President in any of the two parties.” He stressed further that the time has come for the people of the South-East region to work hard so that Igbos can be recognized in national politics.

“So, it’s time for our people to think about how to secure their various states in the South East first before we begin to gain relevance again in national politics.

That’s why we have to work hard to liberate ourselves and make a profound statement on our identity as a people” he stressed. Earlier in his remarks, the Bishop of Anglican Church, Abakaliki Diocese, Rt. Rev. Nkwoagu, charged fathers to always stand as pillars of their homes.
