The Police Service Commission, PSC, has approved the promotion of 8,204 of its senior officers dedicating their lives to serving the country meritoriously.
The approval for the promotion was effected during a two-days (Monday and Tuesday) commission’s 13th Plenary Meeting held in the federal capital territory, Abuja.
In a press conference, the Police Commissioner in charge of the Media Department, PSC, Mr. Austine Braimo, disclosed the approval for the promotion by the commission.
According to Braimo, the commission granted the approvals of its senior officers, of different ranks, promotion to the next rank.
He revealed that among those promoted are two Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) who were promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs).
Also in the list of approvals were six Commissioners of Police (CPs) promoted to the rank of AIG, 17 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) promoted to the rank of CP, while 24 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to the rank of DCPs.

Braimo noted that the officers promoted to the rank of the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) are Mr. Zaki Ahmed and Mr. Johnson Kokumo.
Braimo revealed that some of the officers were duly promoted to fill up the vacant positions created due to the retirement of some officers from the police.
According to him, the gap left by Mr. Tijjani Baba who retired in October gave credence to the promotion of Ahmed to fill it up while Kokumo’s, was due to the gap created by the retired Mr. David Folawiyo. He added that David Folawiyo retired in November.
The head of the media, PSC, noted that Buba Sanusi, Ndatsu Mohammed, Bello Dalijan, Sahabo Yahaya, Akingbola Olatunji, and Hakeem Odumosun are the newly promoted AIG’s.
He added that Josephine Anyasinti, Rhoda Olofu, Godwin Aghaulor, Effiom Emmanuel Stanley Ude, Charles Mozie, and Tajudeen Bakare are the newly Josephine Anyasinti; Rhoda Olofu, Godwin Aghaulor; Effiom Emmanuel Stanley Ude; Charles Mozie and Tajudeen Bakare are among the 17 newly promoted commissioner of police.
Also included in the list are Longe Patrick, Samuel Emmanuel, Faleye Olaleye, Yetunde Longe, Haruna Garba, Tajudeen Wale Abass, Rex Dundun, Ambrose Onah, Durosinmi Olatoye , and Ndu Anene as CPs.
The head of the media department, PSC, stated that the numbers of police officers promoted to the new ranks of Chief Superintendents of Police (CSP) from Superintendent of Police and Chief Superintendent of Police to Assistant Commissioner of Police were 49 and 74 respectively.
He added that 866 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) were promoted to the rank of SPs while 7,166 Assistant Superintendents of Police II (ASP II) were confirmed to ASP I. (NAN)
