The communities are Ugbo-Odogwu, Ugwogo-Nike, Umuchigbo, Iji-Nike (Parklane Extension), Rehab Emene and Agu-Abor, within the suburbs of Enugu East Local Government Area, to benefit from the Nigerian Community Action Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES 2.0) intervention programme.
General Manager of Enugu State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), Monday Ani, disclosed this on Saturday during a project sensitisation meeting with residents of Ugbo-Odogwu community.
Ani noted that the sensitisation and participatory rural appraisal (PRA) engagement with additional communities in Enugu East Local Government Area is part of efforts to identify grassroots development priorities under the NG-CARES 2.0 intervention programme.
He said that the exercise was aimed at enlightening residents on the importance of active participation in the community-driven development process and encouraging them to identify and articulate their most pressing needs for possible intervention.
“In the engagement, CSDA team emphasises the importance of collective participation, transparency, accountability, and community ownership in achieving meaningful and sustainable development.
“We encourage the residents to take an active role in the PRA process, as their contributions would help ensure that proposed projects reflect their actual needs and development aspirations,” he said.
Community Participation Key, Says CSDA
The general manager further stressed that the agency remains committed to ensuring that development interventions are people-centred and responsive to the challenges confronting communities.
“The exercise aligns with the development vision of the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, whose administration continues to prioritise inclusive grassroots development and improved access to essential services.
“Through CSDA and the NG-CARES platform, the state government is strengthening community participation and ownership to ensure that intervention projects address the genuine needs of the people and deliver sustainable benefits across the state,” he said.
