The federal government’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme has announced updates on September stipend payments, outstanding July payments, starter kit distribution, the reinstatement of affected trainees and the expected opening of applications for Cohort III.
Key Highlights
- Processing of September stipends for TVET trainees is ongoing.
- Supplementary payments underway for trainees whose July stipends were reversed due to technical issues.
- Eligible trainees will soon be able to check starter kit status on their TVET dashboards.
- Efforts ongoing to reinstate trainees removed from the platform after fingerprint verification waivers.
- TVET Cohort III applications may open as early as next week, subject to official confirmation.
The updates followed a meeting involving the Federal Ministry of Education, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and TVET centre managers.
According to the programme update after its weekly official meeting on Thursday, processing of September stipends is ongoing, alongside supplementary payments for eligible trainees whose July stipends were reversed due to technical issues.
The supplementary payments are intended to address cases in which beneficiaries did not successfully receive their July stipends because of payment failures.
Starter Kits And Payment Complaints
On starter kits, eligible trainees are expected to be able to check their status through their respective TVET dashboards soon.
The kits are expected to be delivered to designated training centres for distribution to qualified beneficiaries.
The programme also advised trainees experiencing bank account or payment-related problems to submit requests to update their account details through the support system on their respective dashboards.
Affected trainees were urged to follow the prescribed procedure and provide the necessary information to enable the relevant team to address their complaints.

Reinstatement Of Affected Trainees, Cohort III Applications
Meanwhile, trainees whose fingerprint verification was waived but who were subsequently removed from the platform have been asked to remain patient as efforts are being made to restore their access.
The programme management said the relevant team was aware of the issue and working towards reinstating the affected beneficiaries.
Upon completion of the process, the trainees are expected to regain access to the platform, while eligible outstanding stipends will be paid based on verified payment eligibility.
In another development, applications for TVET Cohort III are expected to open soon, potentially as early as next week, subject to the programme’s readiness and official confirmation.
Further details on the application process and commencement date are expected to be communicated through official channels.
The latest update provides guidance for current beneficiaries awaiting stipends, starter kits and reinstatement, while prospective applicants are advised to await an official announcement before applying for the next cohort.
