Super Falcons’ goal poacher and Barcelona star, Asisat Oshoala, has won the 2021- 22 season Pichichi award for attainting the feat as the highest goalscorer in Spain’s female Primera Division.
Oshoala, whose season was marred with injuries intermittently, recorded 20 goals to galvanise the team’s efforts in lifting the title for a third consecutive time.
Barcelona finished the season with 87 points and 147 goals difference to edge Real Sociedad, Atletico Madrid and Madrid to claim the title and Oshoala was very instrumental to the team’s season campaign.
The Super Falcon due to injury could not feature for Nigeria in last month’s friendly matches with Canada’s female senior team; a match Nigeria narrowly missed winning the second leg clash.

Despite being out of action for about four months, the Nigerian football superstar, described by Barcelona as “one of the best strikers in the world”, still edged her closest contender and Madrid CFF Geyse Ferreira, who scored 19 goals.
Other Barcelona female players like Alexia Putellas and Lieke Martens scored two above 15 goals to occupy the 3rd and 4th position, trailing behind Oshoala and Geyse on the goal chart.
The Super Falcon becomes the third player in Barcelona Femini’s history to win the accolade after Sonia Bermúdez and Jennifer Hermoso.
