- 50 Cent says his music, pitch and Starz connections helped get Power approved.
- Kemp says she never understated his role but notes he did not write or create the series.
- 50 Cent offered no evidence for the allegation, which remains unverified.
50 Cent made the allegation in an Instagram post on Sunday, October 18, 2026, while responding to Kemp’s reaction to his recent interview with Variety.
How The Feud Started
The controversy began when 50 Cent said during the interview that he had no intention of working with Kemp again, citing disagreements over their respective contributions to Power, the Starz series that became a successful television franchise.
Asked whether there was anyone in the entertainment industry he would never want to work with again, 50 Cent named Kemp. “I don’t look forward to working with her ever again,” he said.
The rapper also argued that Kemp had downplayed his contribution to the show’s success, claiming that his music, business pitch and involvement in presenting the project to former Starz executive Chris Albrecht played significant roles in getting the series approved.
50 Cent said he produced eight songs for the original series, including its theme song, and helped sell the concept by playing music during the pitch presentation.
Kemp Responds
Kemp subsequently responded to his comments, disputing aspects of his account of the show’s production and budget management.
She maintained that she had never understated his importance to the development of Power, while clarifying that he did not write or create the series.
In her response, Kemp said she was “completely bewildered by his need to mention me in interviews or podcasts,” adding that she had moved on professionally and hoped the success of his upcoming film, Street Fighter, would help him do the same.
50 Cent later shared Kemp’s response on Instagram and explained why he had mentioned her in the interview.
“Wow Variety ask me who I wasn’t looking forward to working with again, so I said Courtney. I thought I was being nice I didn’t even mention her sleeping with cast and crew members,” he wrote.
However, 50 Cent did not provide evidence or further details to substantiate the sexual allegation in the post. Kemp’s response to that specific claim was not available in the reports at the time of publication.

The dispute has brought renewed attention to the working relationship between the two entertainment figures, whose collaboration helped establish Power as a major television franchise.
Kemp created the original series and served as its showrunner, while 50 Cent was an executive producer and played the character Kanan Stark. The show later expanded into several spin-offs.
Although both have acknowledged the other’s involvement in the series’ development, their latest public exchanges reveal a disagreement over credit, production decisions and their past professional relationship.
The latest allegation remains unverified, and neither the Instagram post nor the available public statements establish that the alleged relationships occurred.
