The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON) Plc and its director, Zavyalov Dmitry, over alleged money laundering violations involving transactions valued at N582.43 million. The defendants appeared before Justice O. A. Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, October 12, 2026, on a six-count amended charge alleging failure to report specified transactions to the Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering (SCUML).

Key Highlights

  • The EFCC arraigned ALSCON Plc and its director over alleged money laundering violations involving N582.43 million.
  • The six-count amended charge is marked FHC/ABJ/CR/644/2025.
  • The alleged transactions took place between March and July 2024.
  • The transfers listed include payments to Udatson Nigeria, Urico Global Services and Christopher Azogu.
  • The prosecution alleges that the defendants failed to report the specified transactions to SCUML as required by law.
  • Dmitry is reportedly at large, and the allegations have not been established as findings of guilt.

EFCC Alleges Failure to Report N582.43m Transactions

According to the amended charge, ALSCON and Dmitry allegedly failed to report several large transfers from the company’s account to SCUML between March and July 2024.

The EFCC alleged that the defendants breached Section 11(1)(b) of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, which provides for the reporting of specified transactions.

The six-count charge lists transfers to different recipients, with the transactions forming the basis of the prosecution’s allegations.

The amounts identified in the charge include:

  • N147,515,050 allegedly transferred to Udatson Nigeria in March 2024.
  • N156,026,860 allegedly transferred to Udatson Nigeria in April 2024.
  • N121,425,200 allegedly transferred to Udatson Nigeria in May 2024.
  • N127,338,190 allegedly transferred to Udatson Nigeria in July 2024.
  • N15,124,950 allegedly paid to Urico Global Services in April 2024.
  • N15 million allegedly transferred to Christopher Azogu in June 2024.

The transactions listed in the charge form part of the EFCC’s allegations that the defendants failed to submit the required reports to the relevant authorities.

Six-Count Charge Details Alleged Offences

Count one alleges that ALSCON and Dmitry failed to report a transfer of N147,515,050 to Udatson Nigeria from an account operated by the company in March 2024.

The charge states that the alleged offence occurred in Abuja, within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court.

It cites Sections 11(3), 19(2)(b) and 22 of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, in connection with the alleged violation.

Count two contains a similar allegation involving the N156,026,860 transfer to Udatson Nigeria in April 2024.

Count four alleges that the defendants failed to report the N121,425,200 transfer to the same company in May 2024.

The amended charge contains six counts relating to the alleged failure to report the specified transactions to SCUML.

ALSCON Director Reportedly at Large

Dmitry is reportedly at large, according to the information provided in connection with the case.

The prosecution’s allegations concern compliance with statutory reporting obligations for specified financial transactions. The filing of charges does not, in itself, establish that the defendants committed the alleged offences.

The case is before the Federal High Court in Abuja, where the allegations will be subject to judicial determination.
