Yobe ADC Explains N1m Refund
In a statement signed by its state secretary, Mamu Muhammad, the ADC said the refund followed an investigation into the alleged payment, which it maintained was not authorised by the party’s leadership.
According to the statement, the N1 million was allegedly deposited into the account of a party member who attended an IPAC meeting held on September 22, 2026, at the office of the Yobe State Government’s Special Adviser on Inter-Party Affairs, Abdu Zoto.
The party said its leadership was unaware of the meeting and had not authorised its representative to participate.
It explained that its disciplinary committee investigated the matter after the leadership became aware of the development and confirmed that the money had been paid into the member’s account.
Following the investigation, the ADC said it directed the member to return the money and ensure that the full amount was refunded to the Yobe State Government.
Party Cites Evidence of Refund
To support its claim that the money had been returned, the ADC referenced Yobe State government treasury receipt No. 183689 and Access Bank teller reference No. 165262755310490, both dated October 2, 2026.
The party condemned what it described as acts of inducement, bribery and corruption, insisting that it remained committed to integrity and the protection of the public interest.
It also disclosed that disciplinary measures had been taken against those involved in the incident but did not specify the sanctions imposed.

ADC Rejects IPAC Meeting, Criticises Local Government Elections
Despite distancing itself from the alleged payment, the ADC criticised the conduct of the recently concluded local government elections in Yobe State.
The party described the electoral process as falling short of basic democratic principles and due process.
It alleged that the election was a “skewed charade orchestrated to install friends and cronies,” expressing dissatisfaction with the process.
The ADC also formally dissociated itself from the September 22 IPAC meeting and any other similar meetings, maintaining that its participation had not been authorised by the party’s leadership.
The party directed that all future correspondence intended for it should be channelled through its state secretariat and addressed to the state chairman, Umar Kalli.
Yobe Election Dispute Continues
The development comes amid earlier concerns raised by the ADC over the conduct of the 2026 local government electoral process in Yobe State.
The party had previously complained about issues relating to the release of election guidelines and the electoral timetable.
As of the time of filing this report, the Yobe State government had not issued an official statement addressing the alleged payment or the ADC’s announcement that the money had been refunded.
