The Vice-Chancellor of Southern Delta University (SDU), Ozoro, Prof. Ijirhevwe Awhefeada, has reaffirmed that fostering a supportive and harmonious academic environment remains a top priority of his management team.
Prof. Awhefeada made the statement while speaking with journalists in his office after the executive members of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) paid him a surprise visit to celebrate his birthday.

The visit, led by the SUG President, Comrade Oribelua Precious, featured a saxophonist who entertained the gathering with celebratory tunes and praise songs, followed by the presentation of birthday gifts to the Vice-Chancellor.
Explaining the reason for the visit, Precious said the SUG executive considered it important to appreciate Prof. Awhefeada for his leadership and continued support for students’ welfare.

Awhefeada Commends Students for Gesture
Reacting to the visit, Prof. Awhefeada expressed appreciation to the student representatives for the gesture, describing it as a reflection of the strong bond and mutual respect between the university administration and the student body.
He noted that university administrators have a responsibility to provide guidance and support to students, likening the role to that of a parent.
According to him, maintaining a supportive and harmonious academic environment is central to the administration’s efforts to promote students’ welfare and the overall development of the university.
The Vice-Chancellor also encouraged continued cooperation between the university management and the students, stressing the importance of mutual understanding in achieving institutional progress.
The visit featured group photographs, light entertainment and a brief interactive session during which the SUG executives reaffirmed their commitment to working with the university management for the overall progress of Southern Delta University.
