The Chairman of the Delta State Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Auwalu Tukur, has intensified grassroots mobilisation in Oshimili South Local Government Area, calling on women to support an APC “5/5” outcome in the 2027 general elections.
Tukur made the call when he and his team met with members of the Great Igbo Women in Politics, Oshimili South Chapter, led by its Coordinator and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Helen Otakpo, in Asaba.

The meeting formed part of Tukur’s ongoing grassroots sensitisation tour and focused on political awareness, women’s participation and mobilisation ahead of the elections.
Addressing the women, Tukur urged them to support the APC candidates he identified as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for President, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for Senate, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu for the House of Representatives and Hon. Barr. Bridget Anyafulu for the House of Assembly.
He said the “5/5” agenda was aimed at securing political alignment across the various levels of government and, according to him, creating opportunities for greater development and dividends of democracy in Oshimili South.
Tukur also charged the women to take the sensitisation campaign beyond the meeting venue by engaging women’s unions, market associations, community groups and other grassroots organisations across the local government.

Women’s Group Pledges Grassroots Mobilisation
Responding, Otakpo thanked Tukur and his team for accepting the invitation and described the engagement as timely and impactful.
She said members of Great Igbo Women in Politics were prepared to take the sensitisation campaign to wards and communities across Oshimili South.
Otakpo said the group would deepen its engagement with women across the local government and use its grassroots structures to communicate the party’s political message ahead of the elections.
The meeting ended with a commitment by the participants to intensify grassroots mobilisation, particularly among women, across Oshimili South.
The participants also called for increased voter participation and urged eligible voters to exercise their franchise during the 2027 general elections.
