The federal government has approved a review of the Gross Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure (CONAFSS) for pension-related purposes.
The National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC) announced the development in a circular conveying President Bola Tinubu’s approval of the revised salary structure.
The circular was signed by the NSIWC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Major General Junaidu Bindawa (rtd.).
According to the commission, the revised structure takes effect from September 1, 2026.
The circular was forwarded to key government offices and officials, including the chief of staff to the president, the ministers of finance and defence, and the secretary to the government of the federation.
The review is expected to guide the computation of pension-related benefits for personnel covered by the salary structure.
