The army has dismissed a recruitment notice circulating on social media claiming that applications for the 92 regular recruitment intake have opened.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the army described the publication as fake and urged members of the public to disregard it.

The statement, signed by the acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Directorate of Recruitment, Captain A.U. Hammanga, was also shared on the army’s official X account.

“The publication is false and should be disregarded in its entirety,” the army said.

It explained that the army has an established process for announcing recruitment exercises and would make an official announcement when applications for the 92 regular recruitment intake are actually opened.

The warning comes as fake recruitment announcements continue to circulate online, raising concerns that fraudsters could use the opportunity to target job seekers seeking to join the military.

The army advised prospective applicants to obtain recruitment information only from its verified communication platforms and to confirm the authenticity of any recruitment notice before taking further action.

It also cautioned applicants against making payments or sharing personal information in response to unofficial recruitment advertisements.

The army reaffirmed that its recruitment exercises would be conducted in line with established procedures and with transparency and professionalism.

“The Nigerian Army remains committed to transparency and professionalism in all recruitment processes,” it stated.

The army therefore urged members of the public to ignore the circulating notice and wait for an official announcement on the commencement of the 92 regular recruitment intake.
