The Technical Committee on the Conversion of the Specialist Hospital, Yola, into the Adamawa State University Teaching Hospital has submitted its report to the Secretary to the Adamawa State Government (SSG), Awwal Tukur, at the Government House Secretariat in Yola.

The committee, inaugurated on May 14, 2026, was tasked with conducting a comprehensive assessment of the specialist hospital, identifying gaps in meeting teaching hospital accreditation requirements, and developing a practical roadmap for its transformation into a world-class teaching hospital.

Presenting the report on behalf of the committee, the Chairman and Commissioner for Health, Chubado Jada, said the committee carried out an extensive review of the hospital’s infrastructure, upgrade and expansion needs, legal framework, and financial implications required for the successful conversion of the facility.

Jada expressed appreciation to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for the confidence reposed in the committee and the opportunity to contribute to the state’s healthcare development.

Receiving the report, the Secretary to the State Government, Awwal Tukur, described the health sector as one of the key priorities of the Fintiri administration.

He noted that the state government has continued to strengthen healthcare delivery across the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels and assured the committee that its recommendations would receive due consideration.

He also commended members of the committee for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment in carrying out the assignment.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary (Political), Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Ibrahim Buba, welcomed members of the committee and thanked them for their service to the state.

In his vote of thanks, the Permanent Secretary, Adamawa State Ministry of Health, Mr. Zirra Bubanani, appreciated Governor Fintiri for his sustained investment in the health sector and his commitment to improving healthcare services across Adamawa state.

The report was formally presented for the governor’s consideration and implementation, with the committee expressing confidence that its recommendations would strengthen healthcare delivery and medical education in Adamawa state through the establishment of the Adamawa State University Teaching Hospital.
