Kaduna State has commenced the 2026 civil service examination for the confirmation of appointments of 3,000 civil servants across the state.

The examination, which began on Wednesday at the ICT Centre of Kaduna State University, is being conducted by the office of the head of service in collaboration with Kumesh Integrated Concept Limited.

Speaking during the exercise, the Head of Service, Mrs. Jummai Bako, described the examination as a key requirement for newly recruited civil servants seeking permanent status in the Kaduna State Civil Service.

According to her, confirmation of appointment entitles officers to several benefits, including leave of absence, transfer of service, and opportunities for in-service training.

“Once a civil servant is confirmed, they become eligible to enjoy leave of absence, transfer of service and even in-service training.

“That is why it is important for every civil servant recruited into the Kaduna State government to participate in the confirmation examination,” Bako said.

She explained that the examination covers subjects relevant to the day-to-day responsibilities of civil servants, including administrative, financial, legal and medical matters, as well as general knowledge of issues affecting Kaduna State and Nigeria.

Bako noted that the questions were grouped into five categories to accommodate the various cadres within the civil service, including administrative, legal and medical personnel.

She added that participants were drawn from ministries, departments, agencies and the state’s 23 local government areas, excluding tertiary institutions.

The head of service further disclosed that candidates who do not pass the examination would be given another opportunity to sit for it in 2027.

She urged all participants to approach the exercise with seriousness, stressing that confirmation of appointment is an important milestone in a civil servant’s career.

Bako also commended Governor Uba Sani for approving funds for the exercise and for his continued support for workers’ welfare, including salary adjustments and prompt payment of salaries.

“His Excellency has done a lot for civil servants. On behalf of the workforce, we will continue to give our best in implementing government policies because civil servants remain the engine room of every government,” she said.
