The Rivers State Police Command, through its medical services, has flagged off the “Know Your Number Campaign” to promote preventive healthcare among police officers, their families, and members of the public.
The campaign is organised in partnership with Healthlink and Bridge Initiative and the Police Health Maintenance Organisation.
A statement by the spokesperson of the command, ASP Blessing Agabe said the initiative is aimed at encouraging regular health checks for early detection and timely treatment of medical conditions.
The program held at the command headquarters, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, featured free screenings for hypertension, haemoglobin levels, urinalysis, and other vital health assessments, alongside health education sessions on healthy living and overall well-being.
Speaking at the event, the state Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Alhasan Yahaya, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to the welfare of officers and the public.

He stressed that regular medical check-ups are essential to maintaining a healthy, alert, and effective police workforce.
He commended the Rivers Police Medical Services, Healthlink and Bridge Initiative, and the Police HMO for their support, describing the initiative as timely, impactful, and worthy of emulation.
The commissioner of police noted that the program aligns with the welfare-driven vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, whose leadership he said continues to prioritize the health and well-being of officers and men of the police.
The police used the occasion to urge the public to embrace preventive healthcare as a key step toward healthier and more productive living.
