The Federal Government has arraigned three suspects before the Federal High Court in Abuja over their alleged involvement in the Oyo Schoolchildren Abduction, filing a 10-count charge bordering on terrorism, kidnapping, concealment, incitement and illegal mining.
The prosecution alleged that the defendants played key roles in orchestrating the abduction of pupils and teachers from a school in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, an incident that shocked the nation before the victims were rescued after spending 56 days in captivity.

The defendants, Abdulrazak Umar, Yunusa Musa, and Shamsu Adamu Sani, were formally arraigned on Friday. Court documents identified Umar as Abu Khalifa or Abu Khalid, Musa as Yunusa bin Musa, and Sani as Abu Itisar. The three are reportedly from Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State.

According to the prosecution, the accused allegedly conspired between January and May 2026 with three other suspects identified as Muhammad Sani, Jibril Mohammed, and Ibrahim Khabab to plan and execute the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire, Oyo State.
The Federal Government further alleged that the defendants knowingly concealed information about the identities and activities of the alleged masterminds despite having prior knowledge of the kidnapping plot.
The alleged offences are said to contravene Section 26(1) of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.
The arraignment follows the high-profile kidnapping of pupils and teachers in Oriire, who were eventually rescued after spending 56 days in captivity. The matter is expected to proceed before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
