NiDCOM Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, in a condolence message, sympathised with the family of the deceased, saying his untimely death had thrown the nation and the Nigerian community in the diaspora into mourning.

She described Balogun’s death as a painful loss of a bright and promising young man whose life was cut short in the prime of his youth.

According to Dabiri-Erewa, the deceased was a third-year computer science student at the Maynooth University and was widely known as a peaceful, disciplined and hardworking student with aspirations of becoming a computer engineer.

She said the loss was not only devastating for his family but also for Nigeria, which continues to celebrate the achievements and contributions of its young citizens across the world.

The NiDCOM boss stressed that every Nigerian, regardless of where they live, deserves to study, work and pursue their aspirations in a safe and secure environment.

She expressed confidence that the ongoing investigation by the Irish authorities would be thorough, transparent and concluded promptly to ensure that justice is served and anyone found culpable is held accountable in accordance with the law.

Dabiri-Erewa also commended the Nigerian Embassy in Ireland, members of the Nigerian community and other individuals and organisations that have supported the Balogun family during the difficult period.

She prayed for God to grant the family the strength and fortitude to bear the loss and for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul.

She reaffirmed NiDCOM’s commitment to the welfare of Nigerians in the diaspora and urged them to remain law-abiding while continuing to uphold the values of excellence, resilience and patriotism.
