The national leadership of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has constituted a three-member Caretaker Committee to oversee the affairs of its Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter for the next three months.

According to a letter signed by SWAN Secretary-General, Ikenna Okonkwo Monday, the committee is made up of Edwin Akwueh as chairman, Tamara Ebiwei as secretary, and Linus Hagher as member.

The committee was constituted following the dissolution of the FCT chapter’s executive committee by the chapter’s congress on June 19.

The caretaker committee has been mandated to work with the SWAN Electoral Committee (SWANECO) to conduct elections that will usher in a substantive executive before the expiration of its three-month tenure.

Why did SWAN appoint a caretaker committee for its FCT chapter?

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has appointed a three-member caretaker committee to administer its FCT chapter after the dissolution of the executive committee, with the new body tasked with conducting elections within three months.

SWAN President, Isaiah Benjamin commended the outgoing executive, led by Kelechi Onwudiwe, for its service to the association and urged the caretaker committee to deploy its experience to ensure the smooth administration of the FCT chapter and facilitate a credible electoral process.
