The Delta State Police Command has intensified efforts to safeguard critical national infrastructure, following the arrest of two suspected electric cable vandals in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects, identified as Osakwe Sunday, and Ekene Obocha, were apprehended after police officers attached to the Kwale Police Station, working alongside members of the local vigilante group, acted on intelligence regarding ongoing vandalism of electric cables along the Ibabu–Ugiliamai Road.
According to the police, the suspects attempted to escape when police officers arrived at the scene.
One of the suspects sustained injuries during the operation and is currently receiving medical attention, while the second suspect is in police custody.

The operation also led to the recovery of vandalised electric cables believed to have been removed from the affected area.
The state Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, described the arrest as part of the command’s sustained campaign against crimes targeting government assets and public utilities.
He cautioned those engaged in vandalism and other criminal activities to desist, stressing that the police would continue to pursue and prosecute anyone found sabotaging critical infrastructure.
The commissioner of police also appealed to members of the public to support ongoing security efforts by volunteering credible and timely information that would aid crime prevention and investigation across the state.
